General Questions

Why should I support BuzzFeed News?

Reporting on big stories is simply time-consuming, expensive work. That’s why some newsrooms have cut back on high-impact journalism and others have erected paywalls that mean only those who can afford to pay get access to quality news. We’re determined not to let either of those happen here as we bring you fearless reporting on stories you care about, and keep our journalism free to all. Read more about BuzzFeed News here.

What do BuzzFeed News members get?

Our members help us provide quality news and expose secrets that change lives. We’ll send you member-only emails about our biggest stories, impact we achieve together, and new projects. We’ll also ask for your feedback and ideas. If you join up front for a full year membership, we’ll send you a special gift annually.

Are you going to charge to view your articles?

No. We were born of the open web, and reporting to the widest possible audience is in our DNA. As our CEO Jonah Peretti has stated time and again, paywalls are bad for democracy. We’re very focused on building a strong business around news, which includes advertising you see on our pages, exciting new shows on Twitter, Netflix, and Facebook, and support from our members.

Where does money from BuzzFeed News members go?

100% of the money we make in proceeds from members goes into BuzzFeed News. A lot goes into reporting the news: A staff of 250 reporters and editors and the offices they work in, plus travel, legal expenses, and security to support their reporting.

Can I gift a membership to a friend slash my mom?

We currently don’t have a gift option, but ask your mom to support BuzzFeed News 😀

What if I want to give more?

We’re only able to accept contributions through our membership program right now. The best way to contribute more is to spread the word and ask a friend to become a BuzzFeed News member too.

My gift hasn’t arrived. What do I do?

If your gift is being returned to us for any reason, our customer support team will reach out to confirm a new address once the item arrives back at our warehouse. If we are able to make contact we will re-ship your item.

Incorrect Address

If the shipping address on your order is incorrect or incomplete, please note that we cannot change the delivery address after an order has been shipped. If the item is undeliverable, once it's returned to us, we can send out a replacement.

Lost or stolen orders

We ship with only the most reliable carriers. We ask that you first contact the carrier assigned to your delivery and see if they have any insight. If they are unable to assist, please email us at newsmembership@buzzfeednews.com so we can work with you to resolve this.
